2020 An Act relative to electric ratepayer protections.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2222 of the same, as follows:
2323 1 Chapter 164 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 1K the
2424 2following section:-
2525 3 Section 1L. Beginning on January 1, 2025, no supplier, energy marketer or energy broker
2626 4shall execute a new contract for generation services with any individual residential retail
2727 5customer. This section shall not apply to, or otherwise affect, any government body that
2828 6aggregates the load of residential retail customers as part of a municipal load aggregation
2929 7program pursuant to section 134. Any violation of this section shall be deemed an unfair and
3030 8deceptive act pursuant to chapter 93A. The attorney general may bring an action under section 4
3131 9of said chapter 93A to enforce this section and to obtain restitution, civil penalties, injunctive
3232 10relief or any other relief available under said chapter 93A.
