1 Chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out section 15GGGGG, as
2appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, and inserting in place thereof the following section:-
3 Section 15GGGGG. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart the
4third full week in September as Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week and the Friday of said
5week as Noah Fernandes Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Day, in recognition of the number of
6residents of the commonwealth affected by mitochondrial diseases and the need for increased
7public awareness, research and support for victims and their families, and to show appreciation
8for the services being provided in the commonwealth to alleviate the financial and emotional
9stress of the disease for families with children who are affected by mitochondrial diseases and
10other developmental disabilities, and recommending that the week and the day be observed in an
11appropriate manner by the people.
