| 26 | 26 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 28 | 28 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 38M of Chapter 71 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking in lines 9 through 14 the phrase “Said |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 3chairperson shall be an ex-officio, nonvoting member of the school committee, without the right |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 4to attend executive sessions unless such right is expressly granted by the individual school |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 5committee. Said chairperson shall be subject to all school committee rules and regulations and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 6shall serve without compensation.” and inserting in place thereof the following:- |

| 34 | 34 | | 7 “School committees of cities, towns, and regional school districts shall recognize two (2) |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 8student representatives, to be elected by the student bodies of all secondary schools within the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 9district, prior to the first day of June in each year. Said representatives shall be allowed to vote |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 10on all matters before the committee. Student representatives shall be subject to all school |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 11committee rules and regulations, shall serve without compensation, and without the right to |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 12attend executive sessions unless such right is expressly granted by the individual school |

| 42 | 42 | | 15by the district, to be elected by the students of the secondary school or schools within the district. |

| 44 | 44 | | 17representatives with their regular duties and to assist their constituents with accessing resources |
