2626 An Act relative to increased material costs in school construction projects.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 Chapter 70B of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:-
3030 2 SECTION 21. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, as a means of
3131 3providing available assets for previously approved school building projects adversely affected by
3232 4increases to material costs, a percentage but no less than $150,000,000 of eligible funds received
3333 5by the commonwealth as part of State and Local aid from Federal COVID-19 recovery funds
3434 6shall be paid over to and become part of the School Modernization and Reconstruction Trust
3535 7Fund.
3636 8 The Massachusetts School Building Authority shall use these funds to reimburse
3737 9previously approved school building projects that can show a demonstrated cost increase brought
3838 10about by the COVID-19 pandemic and global supply chain issues.
