| 31 | 31 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | of the same, as follows: |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 14E of chapter 71 of the General Laws, the towns |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 2of Spencer and East Brookfield may annually elect members on a municipal election ballot to |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 3serve on the school committee of the Spencer East Brookfield Regional School District on the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 4same date as the annual elections in each town; provided, however, that the election of the school |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 5committee members shall take place pursuant to the Regional Agreement between the towns of |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 6Spencer and East Brookfield; provided further, that if the municipal elections in the towns do not |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 7occur on the same date, then the election of the school committee members shall take place at the |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 8next biennial state election or next municipal elections in the towns of East Brookfield and |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | 9Spencer that are held on the same date, whichever occurs sooner. 2 of 2 |

| 42 | 42 | | 10 SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any general or special law, ordinance or charter provision |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | 11to the contrary, the acts, proceedings and votes taken by the towns of Spencer and East |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | 12Brookfield at the November 8, 2022 biennial state election, and all actions taken pursuant thereto |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | 13and in reliance thereon, are hereby ratified, validated and confirmed to the same extent as if |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | 14towns known as Spencer and East Brookfield had complied with all statutory and other |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | 15requirements for completion of nomination papers, preparation of ballots, signing and posting the |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | 16warrant for such election and holding such election. |

| 49 | 49 | | 17 SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage. |
