2828 An Act relative to a municipality’s right of first refusal of agricultural and recreational land.
2929 Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to
3030 ensure a municipality’s option to preserve certain lands, therefore it is hereby declared to be an
3131 emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
3232 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3333 of the same, as follows:
3434 1 SECTION 1. Section 14 of chapter 61A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020
3535 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the figure “120”, each time it appears, and
3636 3inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following figure:- 180.
3737 4 SECTION 2. Said section 14 of said chapter 61A, as so appearing, is hereby further
3838 5amended by striking out the figure “90”, the first and second time it appears, and inserting in
3939 6place thereof, in each instance, the following figure:- 120. 2 of 2
4040 7 SECTION 3. The sixteenth paragraph of said section 14 of said chapter 61A, as so
4141 8appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following sentence:- The landowner shall
4242 9respond no later than 30 days after having received the purchase and sale contract.
4343 10 SECTION 4. The twenty-third paragraph of said section 14 of said chapter 61, as so
4444 11appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following sentence:- The city or town shall
4545 12not be required to exercise the option to purchase any property not classified under this chapter.
4646 13 SECTION 5. Section 9 of chapter 61B of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby
4747 14amended by striking out the figure “120”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof, in
4848 15each instance, the following figure:- 180.
4949 16 SECTION 6. Said section 9 of chapter 61B, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
5050 17by striking out the figure “90”, the first and second time it appears, and inserting in place thereof,
5151 18in each instance, the following figure:- 120.
5252 19 SECTION 7. The sixteenth paragraph of said section 9 of said chapter 61B, as so
5353 20appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- The landowner shall respond
