2828 An Act providing for prompt health insurance benefits for municipal employees.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 1. Section 19 of chapter 32B of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022
3232 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following new subsection:-
3333 3 (k) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, an eligible municipal
3434 4employee who subscribes to the commission’s health insurance coverage within the first 10 days
3535 5of the employee’s first day of employment shall receive such coverage effective as of: (i) their
3636 6first day of employment; or (ii) the date on which the employee subscribes to the coverage,
3737 7whichever is later. 2 of 2
3838 8 SECTION 2. The group insurance commission shall promulgate regulations necessary to
3939 9implement subsection (k) of section 19 of chapter 32B of the General Laws, as inserted by
4040 10section 1, not later than 3 months after enactment.
