| 27 | 27 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 29 | 29 | | 1 Chapter 175 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after Section 47UU the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 2following section: |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 3 Section 47VV. (a) For the purposes of this section, the following term shall have the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 4following meaning unless the context clearly requires otherwise: |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 5 “medical tattoo”, a medically necessary tattoo used to restore the appearance of a |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 6patient’s skin, conceal surface defects, or mark the treatment site of a patient. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 7 (b) Any policy, contract, agreement, plan or certificate of insurance issued, delivered or |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 8renewed within or without the commonwealth shall provide coverage for medical tattoos when |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 9deemed medically necessary by a physician. The commissioner shall promulgate regulations to |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 10implement this section. |
