| 30 | 30 | | 1 SECTION 1. The Center for African, Caribbean & Community Development at the |

| 31 | 31 | | 2University of Massachusetts Boston shall be designated and known as the Senator Bill Owens |

| 32 | 32 | | 3Center, in honor of his years of service and dedication to the people of the Commonwealth. |

| 33 | 33 | | 4 SECTION 2. The Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Boston, in consultation |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 5with the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees, shall erect and maintain suitable |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 6markers bearing such designation in compliance with university standards. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 7 SECTION 3. Subject to appropriation, the Department of Higher Education shall provide |

| 37 | 37 | | 8not less than $250,000 for the installation of such markers and for relevant programming to |

| 38 | 38 | | 9commemorate the renaming of the Senator Bill Owens Center. |
