| 27 | 27 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of the same, as follows: |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 1 The first paragraph of section 30 of chapter 23B of the General Laws, as amended by |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 2section 120 of chapter 7 of the acts of 2023, is hereby further amended by adding the following |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 3sentence:- |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 4 Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 5emergency housing assistance program established herein shall be available only to residents of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 6the commonwealth who have resided within the commonwealth for no less than six months, |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 7provided however that this provision shall not apply to a victim of domestic violence or a person |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 8whose living situation has been affected by a fire or other natural disaster that occurred in |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 9Massachusetts. |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 10 The department shall require applicants to provide proof of residency for a period of no |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 11less than six months. The department may require applicants to submit documentation including, 2 of 2 |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 12but not limited to, federal and state issued identification documents, mail, financial statements, |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | 13and bills to meet the requirements of this section. |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | 14 This section shall apply to applications submitted for the emergency housing assistance |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | 15program on or after the effective date of this act. |
