2626 An Act relative to emergency housing assistance residency requirements.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 The first paragraph of section 30 of chapter 23B of the General Laws, as amended by
3030 2section 120 of chapter 7 of the acts of 2023, is hereby further amended by adding the following
3131 3sentence:-
3232 4 Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the
3333 5emergency housing assistance program established herein shall be available only to residents of
3434 6the commonwealth who have resided within the commonwealth for no less than six months,
3535 7provided however that this provision shall not apply to a victim of domestic violence or a person
3636 8whose living situation has been affected by a fire or other natural disaster that occurred in
3737 9Massachusetts.
3838 10 The department shall require applicants to provide proof of residency for a period of no
3939 11less than six months. The department may require applicants to submit documentation including, 2 of 2
4040 12but not limited to, federal and state issued identification documents, mail, financial statements,
4141 13and bills to meet the requirements of this section.
4242 14 This section shall apply to applications submitted for the emergency housing assistance
4343 15program on or after the effective date of this act.
