2525 An Act regarding on behalf orders.
2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2727 of the same, as follows:
2828 1 Chapter 209A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby
2929 2amended by adding the following new section:
3030 3 Section 9A. Orders Protecting Minors. Any on behalf of order or order relative to minor
3131 4children, remains in effect after the minor reaches the age of majority unless otherwise ordered
3232 5by the court. Upon reaching the age of majority, the plaintiff may appear at court on the date and
3333 6time the order is to expire, and the court shall determine whether or not to extend the order for
3434 7any additional time reasonably necessary to protect the plaintiff or to enter a permanent order.
3535 8 Chapter 258E of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby
3636 9amended by adding the following new section:
3737 10 Section 11A. Orders Protecting Minors. Any order issued on behalf of a minor remains
3838 11in effect after the minor reaches the majority unless otherwise ordered by the court. Upon
3939 12reaching the age of majority, the plaintiff may appear at court on the date and time the order is to 2 of 2
4040 13expire, and the court shall determine whether or not to extend the order for any additional time
4141 14reasonably necessary to protect the plaintiff or to enter a permanent order.
