2929 An Act providing opportunities for apprentices to complete their training and for ensuring a
3030 skilled workforce in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3131 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3232 of the same, as follows:
3333 1 Section 26 of Chapter 149 is hereby amended by adding at the end:
3434 2 For projects over one million dollars, the total hours of employees, by trade, receiving an
3535 3hourly wage who are directly employed on the site of the project, employed by the contractor or
3636 4a subcontractor and subject to the prevailing wage, shall be performed by apprentices in bona
3737 5fide apprentice training programs as provided in sections 11H and 11I of chapter 23 of the
3838 6General Laws which are approved by the division of apprentice training in the executive office
3939 7of labor and workforce development and in compliance with apprentice ratios established by any
4040 8trades license board. 2 of 3
4141 9 Six months after the passage of this act, 5% of the hours shall be performed by
4242 10apprentices.
4343 11 One year after the passage of this act, 10% of the hours shall be performed by
4444 12apprentices.
4545 13 Two years after the passage of this act, 15% of the hours shall be performed by
4646 14apprentices.
4747 15 Section 6 of Chapter 149 A shall be amended by adding a new section:

6161 29 Chapter 30 Section 39m is hereby amended by adding a new section: 3 of 3
