2626 An Act establishing a minimum wage for employees of airline catering companies.
2727 Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to
2828 establish forthwith a minimum wage for employees of airline catering companies, therefore it is
2929 hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
3030 convenience.
3131 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3232 of the same, as follows:
3333 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, employees of an
3434 2airline catering company that holds a commercial services operating agreement or lease with the
3535 3Massachusetts Port Authority who perform work related to such agreement or lease on Logan
3636 4airport property or off-site shall be paid the same hourly wage as other service workers
3737 5including, but not limited to, wheelchair assistants, skycaps, ticket agents, janitorial staff, aircraft
3838 6and cabin cleaning and baggage handlers.
3939 7 For purposes of this requirement, “airline catering” shall include the preparation or
4040 8assembly of food, beverages, provisions or related supplies for delivery, and the delivery of such 2 of 2
4141 9items, directly to aircraft at Logan airport or to a location on or near airport property for
4242 10subsequent delivery to aircraft.
4343 11 SECTION 2. Any change in the hourly wage of employees of an airline catering
4444 12company necessary to effectuate section 1 shall take effect within 30 days of the effective date of
4545 13this act.
