29 | 29 | | 1 Section 99A of chapter 41 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, |

30 | 30 | | 2is hereby amended by striking the section in its entirety and inserting in place thereof the |

31 | 31 | | 3following section:- |

32 | 32 | | 4 Section 99A. Any member of the regular police or fire department and fire alarm division |

33 | 33 | | 5of a city or town appointed subsequent to August first, nineteen hundred and seventy eight who |
---|
34 | 34 | | 6is not subject to chapter 31 shall reside within fifteen miles of the limits of said city or town. Said |

35 | 35 | | 7distance shall be measured from the closest border limits of said city or town in which said |
---|
36 | 36 | | 8member is employed to the closest border limits of the city or town in which said member lives; |

37 | 37 | | 9provided, however, a city or town may increase the fifteen mile residency limit under a collective |

38 | 38 | | 10bargaining agreement negotiated in accordance with chapter 150E. |
