2828 An Act relative to the internal benefits of public safety telecommunicators.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 1. Definitions
3232 2 For the purpose of this section the following words shall have the following meanings:-
3333 3 "Public Safety Dispatchers” or “Public Safety Telecommunicators", an individual
3434 4employed by a public safety agency, as the initial first responder, whose primary responsibility is
3535 5to receive, process, transmit, or dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for law
3636 6enforcement, fire, emergency medical, and other public safety services by telephone, radio, or
3737 7other communication device, and includes an individual who promotes from this position and
3838 8supervises individuals who perform these functions. 2 of 2
3939 9 SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any general or special law or rule or regulation to the
4040 10contrary, all Public Safety Dispatchers or Public Safety Telecommunicators shall receive the
4141 11same internal benefits as First Responders.
4242 12 SECTION 3. No change shall be made to such Telecommunicators' compensation and
4343 13pension benefits.
