In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court
(2025-2026)

An Act relative to the POST Commission.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 Section 2 of Chapter 6E of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 
2official edition, is hereby amended by striking Section 2 in its entirety and adding in place 
3thereof the following:
4 Section 2. (a) There shall be a Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training 
5Commission consisting of 11 members: 3 of whom shall be appointed by the governor, 1 of 
6whom shall be a police chief, 1 of whom shall be a retired justice of the superior court and 1 of 
7whom shall be a social worker appointed from a list of 5 nominations submitted by the National 
8Association of Social Workers, Inc., Massachusetts chapter; 3 of whom shall be appointed by the 
9attorney general, 1 of whom shall be a law enforcement officer below the rank of sergeant who is 
10a labor union representative appointed from a list of 3 nominations submitted by the Chair of the  2 of 2
11Massachusetts Law Enforcement Policy Group, 1 of whom shall be a law enforcement officer 
12appointed from a list of 5 nominations submitted by the Massachusetts Association of Minority 
13Law Enforcement Officers, Inc. and 1 of whom shall be an attorney licensed to practice law in 
14the commonwealth appointed from a list of 5 nominations submitted by the civil rights and social 
15justice section council of the Massachusetts Bar Association; and 3 of whom shall be appointed 
16jointly by the governor and attorney general, 1 of whom shall be appointed from a list of 5 
17nominations submitted by the Massachusetts commission against discrimination.; and 2 of whom 
18shall be appointed by the Massachusetts District Attorney’s Association, 1 of whom shall be a 
19sworn member of the Department of State Police who is appointed from a list of 2 nominations 
20submitted by the President of the State Police Association of Massachusetts, and 1 of whom shall 
21be a Juvenile Diversion Program professional appointed from a list of 2 nominations approved 
22by a majority of the Board of the Massachusetts District Attorney’s Association.
