2626 An Act relative to implementing a blue alert system in the Commonwealth.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. Section 18¾ of chapter 6A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022
3030 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following clause:-
3131 3 (16) to develop and implement a statewide blue alert system to be activated when law
3232 4enforcement officials are searching for an individual who is wanted in the serious injury or
3333 5killing of a police officer, state trooper, or other law enforcement official.
3434 6 SECTION 2. Chapter 6A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition,
3535 7is hereby amended by inserting after section 18AA the following section:-
3636 8 Section 18BB. The executive office of public safety shall coordinate the implementation
3737 9of a statewide blue alert system, pursuant to section 21 of chapter 22.
3838 10 SECTION 3. Chapter 22 of The General Laws are hereby amended by adding the
3939 11following section:- 2 of 2

4141 13 THE STATEWIDE BLUE ALERT SYSTEM
4242 14 Section 1. The following terms as used in this chapter shall, unless the context clearly
4343 15appears otherwise, have the following meanings:
4444 16 “Executive office”, the executive office of public safety.
4545 17 "Law enforcement agency", a law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the
4646 18investigation of a crime resulting in the serious injury or death of a police officer, state trooper,
4747 19or other law enforcement official.
