30 | 30 | | Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to |
---|
31 | 31 | | provide creditable service to a member of the Massachusetts teachers' retirement system, |
---|
32 | 32 | | therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation |
---|
33 | 33 | | of the public convenience. |
---|
34 | 34 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
---|
35 | 35 | | of the same, as follows: |
---|
36 | 36 | | 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general or |
---|
37 | 37 | | 2special law to the contrary, the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement board shall credit Heather |
---|
38 | 38 | | 3Leger, a member of the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement system, with not more than 2 years of |
---|
39 | 39 | | 4creditable service for her part-time work with the nonpublic Applewild school in the city of |
---|
40 | 40 | | 5Fitchburg between the years of 2002 and 2007, inclusive, for the purpose of determining her |
---|
41 | 41 | | 6superannuation retirement allowance pursuant to said chapter 32. The board shall confirm the |
---|
42 | 42 | | 7exact dates of Heather Leger’s work and credit her with creditable service for the amount of |
---|
43 | 43 | | 8actual time worked during this period in accordance with section 4 of said chapter 32. 2 of 2 |
---|
44 | 44 | | 9 SECTION 2. Eligibility for the creditable service authorized in section 1 shall be |
---|
45 | 45 | | 10conditioned upon payment by Heather Leger to the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement system, in |
---|
46 | 46 | | 11an amount equal to that which would have been withheld as regular deductions from her regular |
---|
47 | 47 | | 12compensation for such previous service, in 1 lump sum or installments, as the Massachusetts |
---|
48 | 48 | | 13teachers’ retirement board shall prescribe. |
