2828 An Act relative to vehicle registration fees and sales tax for disabled veterans.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 1. Section 6 of chapter 64H of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020
3232 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out paragraph (u) and inserting in place thereof
3333 3the following paragraph:-
3434 4 (u) Sale of a motor vehicle purchased by and for the use of a person who has suffered
3535 5loss, or permanent loss of use of, both legs or both arms or one leg and one arm or by and for the
3636 6use of a veteran who has been determined to be permanently disabled by the medical advisory
3737 7board established under section 8C of chapter 90 and has been issued a disabled veteran number
3838 8plate or the special parking identification placard for handicapped individuals authorized under
3939 9section 2 of said chapter 90. This exemption shall apply to one motor vehicle only owned and
4040 10registered for the personal, noncommercial use of such person. 2 of 2
4141 11 SECTION 2. Section 33 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby
4242 12amended by striking out subdivision (29) and inserting in place thereof the following
4343 13subdivision:-
4444 14 (29) No fee shall be exacted for the registration of any vehicle owned by a veteran who is
4545 15entitled to display thereon the distinctive number plates for disabled veterans or the special
4646 16parking identification placard for handicapped individuals authorized by section 2. No fee shall
4747 17be exacted for the issuance to such veterans of a license to operate such vehicle.
