2525 An Act expanding the senior property tax exemption.
2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2727 of the same, as follows:
2828 1 Chapter 59, Section 5, subsection 41C is hereby amended by striking out the words:
2929 2 “A city, by vote of its council and approval of its mayor, or a town, by vote of town
3030 3meeting, may adjust the following factors contained in these provisions by: 1) reducing the
3131 4requisite age of eligibility to any person age 65 years or older; 2) increasing either or both of the
3232 5amounts contained in the first sentence of this clause, by not more than 100 per cent;” and
3333 6replacing with the following new text:
3434 7 “A city, by vote of its council and approval of its mayor, or a town, by vote of town
3535 8meeting, may adjust the following factors contained in these provisions by: 1) reducing the
3636 9requisite age of eligibility to any person age 65 years or older; 2) increasing either or both of the
3737 10amounts contained in the first sentence of this clause, by not more than 100 per cent, or
3838 11increasing the $500 exemption in the first sentence up to $2,000;”
