2525 An Act relative to a first-time homebuyer tax deduction.
2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2727 of the same, as follows:
2828 1 Section 1. As used in this section, the following words shall, unless the context clearly
2929 2requires otherwise, have the following meanings:
3030 3 “Closing Cost,” any expenses associated with a mortgage beyond the down payment,
3131 4including appraisal fees, mortgage generation fees, bank fees, mortgage generation fees, bank
3232 5fees, recording fees, inspection fees, attorney fees and escrow fees.
3333 6 “First-time homebuyer,” a Massachusetts resident who has not owned a home at any
3434 7point in the last three years.
3535 8 Section 2: Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary there shall be a
3636 9deduction associated with first time homebuyers valued at the cost of any additional closing costs
3737 10accrued through the homebuying process.
