2727 An Act expanding the senior property tax exemption.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 Chapter 59, Section 5, subsection 41C is hereby amended by striking out the words:
3131 2 “A city, by vote of its council and approval of its mayor, or a town, by vote of town
3232 3meeting, may adjust the following factors contained in these provisions by: 1) reducing the
3333 4requisite age of eligibility to any person age 65 years or older; 2) increasing either or both of the
3434 5amounts contained in the first sentence of this clause, by not more than 100 per cent;” and
3535 6replacing with the following new text:
3636 7 “A city, by vote of its council and approval of its mayor, or a town, by vote of town
3737 8meeting, may adjust the following factors contained in these provisions by: 1) reducing the
3838 9requisite age of eligibility to any person age 65 years or older; 2) increasing either or both of the 2 of 2
3939 10amounts contained in the first sentence of this clause, by not more than 100 per cent, or
4040 11increasing the $500 exemption in the first sentence up to $2,000;”
