3232 An Act relative to electric ratepayer protections.
3333 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3434 of the same, as follows:
3535 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 164 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after
3636 2section 1K the following section:
3737 3 Section 1L. On or after January 1, 2026, no supplier, energy marketer, or energy broker
3838 4shall execute a new contract or renew an existing contract for generation services with any
3939 5individual residential retail customer. This section shall not apply to, or otherwise affect, any
4040 6government body that aggregates the load of residential retail customers as part of a municipal
4141 7aggregation plan pursuant to section 134, nor shall apply to, or otherwise affect, any entity
4242 8organizing or administering a program pursuant to section 137. A violation of this section shall
4343 9be deemed an unfair and deceptive act pursuant to chapter 93A. The attorney general may bring
4444 10an action under section 4 of said chapter 93A to enforce this section and to obtain restitution,
4545 11civil penalties, injunctive relief, or any other relief available under said chapter 93A.
