| 28 | 28 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of the same, as follows: |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 1 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Massachusetts |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 2Department of Transportation shall conduct a comprehensive noise study along interstate |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 3highways in the towns of Bedford, Burlington, and the city of Woburn to determine the ambient |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 4noise level generated by traffic and the traffic-related noise impact on surrounding areas. The |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 5department shall make recommendations for noise abatement methods, including but not limited |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 6to a highway noise barrier. The comprehensive noise study shall be conducted by an acoustical |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 7engineer employed by or on behalf of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 8results of the study and the department recommendations shall be filed with the chairs of the |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 9joint committee on transportation and the clerks of the house of representatives and the senate on |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 10or before June 1, 2026. |
