2727 An Act relative to electric vehicle charging stations.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 SECTION 1. Section 16 of Chapter 25A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022
3131 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “membership”, in line 39, the
3232 3following words:- “Any person who parks a vehicle that is not compatible with an electronic
3333 4charging station in a publicly available parking spot equipped with an electronic charging station,
3434 5shall be subject to a fine of $50 for a first offense and $100 for a second or subsequent offense.”
3535 6 SECTION 2. Said Chapter 25A is hereby amended by inserting after sub-section 16F the
3636 7following section:-
3737 8 “Sub-Section 16G. The Department of Transportation (DOT) shall have the authority to
3838 9lease parcels of land for the purpose of instituting electric vehicle charging stations adjacent to
3939 10state highways and interstates. Parcels of land shall include, but are not limited to, safety rest 2 of 2
4040 11areas, inspection stations, or referee stations, as defined in Chapter 90 and Chapter 93D of the
4141 12General Laws.”
4242 13 SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
