| 27 | 27 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

| 29 | 29 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 67B of chapter 33 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 |

| 30 | 30 | | 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:- |

| 31 | 31 | | 3 Qualifying next of kin of a fallen service member may apply to the adjutant general for a |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 4medal of fidelity, in a form prescribed by the adjutant general. There shall be within the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 5application for the medal of fidelity a notification that informs applicants of their eligibility to |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 6receive the medal of fidelity license plate, pursuant to section 2 of chapter 90, free of charge |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 7upon approval of the application. The notification shall read as follows: IF YOU RECEIVE THE |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 8MEDAL OF FIDELITY, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO RECEIVE THE MEDAL OF FIDELITY |

| 37 | 37 | | 9LICENSE PLATE FREE OF CHARGE and shall include a link to the online application |

| 38 | 38 | | 10established by the registrar of motor vehicles. 2 of 2 |

| 42 | 42 | | 14 The registrar shall furnish without charge to owners of private passenger motor vehicles |

| 43 | 43 | | 15who have been awarded the medal of fidelity pursuant to section 67B of chapter 33 upon |

| 44 | 44 | | 16presentation of satisfactory evidence of such status, as determined by the registrar, distinctive |

| 45 | 45 | | 17registration plates for 1 private passenger motor vehicle owned and principally used by such |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | 18recipient, bearing on the left side an image of the medal and ribbon and bearing the words |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | 19"MEDAL OF FIDELITY'' along the bottom. The registrar, in consultation with the adjutant |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | 20general of the Massachusetts national guard, shall notify all past recipients of the medal of |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | 21fidelity, established pursuant to said section 67B of said chapter 33, of their eligibility for the |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | 22medal of fidelity license plate through a letter, which shall include the application for the medal |
|---|
| 51 | 51 | | 23of fidelity license plate. Notification of past recipients of the medal of fidelity concerning their |
|---|
| 52 | 52 | | 24eligibility for the medal of fidelity license plate shall be completed no later than six months after |
|---|
| 53 | 53 | | 25the license plate is designed and in circulation. |
