28 | 28 | | of the same, as follows: |

29 | 29 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting |
---|
30 | 30 | | 2after the eighteenth paragraph, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, the following |

31 | 31 | | 3paragraph:- |

32 | 32 | | 4 The registrar shall furnish without charge to owners of private passenger motor vehicles |
---|
33 | 33 | | 5who are veterans as defined in said clause Forty-third of said section seven of said chapter four |
---|
34 | 34 | | 6who have been awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge (Second |
---|
35 | 35 | | 7Award), or Combat Action Badge and upon evidence deemed satisfactory by the registrar, |
---|
36 | 36 | | 8distinctive registration plates bearing the words, "COMBAT VETERAN” and bearing a |
---|
37 | 37 | | 9distinctive emblem that identifies the branch of the armed services in which such owner served, |
---|
38 | 38 | | 10and the receipt of the Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge (Second Award), |
---|
39 | 39 | | 11or Combat Action Badge for one private passenger motor vehicle or motorcycle owned and |
---|
40 | 40 | | 12principally used by such recipient; provided, however, that the surviving spouse of a deceased 2 of 2 |
---|
41 | 41 | | 13recipient may elect to retain such distinctive registration plates or emblem for personal use upon |
---|
42 | 42 | | 14payment of the established registration fee for private passenger motor vehicles or motorcycles |
---|
43 | 43 | | 15and an additional annual twenty dollar fee until such time as such spouse remarries or fails to |
---|
44 | 44 | | 16renew or cancels such registration. |
