26	26	An Act to update and standardize transit definitions in the Commonwealth.
27	27	Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
28	28	of the same, as follows:
29	29	1 SECTION 1. Section 3A of Chapter 40A is herby amended by adding the following
30	30	2subsection:
31	31	3 (d) For the purposes of this section and any guidelines promulgated thereunder, the
32	32	4following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly requires otherwise,
33	33	5 “Bus station” means a bus rapid transit stop serving as a point of embarkation along a bus
34	34	6rapid transit corridor for a high-capacity bus-based rapid transport system accompanied by a
35	35	7sheltered platform, terminal or other fixed infrastructure serving as a point of embarkation or any
36	36	8stop along the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s silver line.
37	37	9 “Bus stop,” a point of embarkation along a bus rapid transit corridor not accompanied by
38	38	10a sheltered platform. 2 of 2
39	39	11 “Commuter rail station” means any MBTA commuter rail station with year-round, rather
40	40	12than intermittent, seasonal, or event-based, service, including stations under construction but not
41	41	13including existing stations at which service will be terminated, or permanently reduced below
42	42	14regular year-round service.
43	43	15 “Rapid Transit Station” an MBTA subway station or MBTA Silver Line Rapid Bus
44	44	16Transit Station.
45	45	17 “Rapid transit community” means an MBTA community that has within its borders at
46	46	18least 100 acres of developable station area associated with one or more subway stations, or
47	47	19MBTA Silver Line bus rapid transit stations.
48	48	20 “Subway station” means a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority station with
49	49	21uninterrupted service running inbound-to or outbound-from either Park Street Station,
50	50	22Government Center Station, Downtown Crossing Station, or State Street Station as part of the
51	51	23Red, Blue, Orange, or Green Lines.
52	52	24 “Trolley Station” means an MBTA station providing connecting service to a subway
53	53	25station but does not provide direct service either inbound-to or outbound-from Park Street
54	54	26Station, Government Center Station, Downtown Crossing Station, or State Street Station.
