2828 An Act to enhance opportunities for veterans at the Massachusetts Port Authority.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 Chapter 465 of the acts of 1956 is hereby amended by adding the following section: –
3232 2 Section 37. When considering applicants for employment with the Authority, the
3333 3Authority shall develop rules and regulations for the hiring of employees that include guidelines
3434 4for preferential consideration of applicants who are veterans as defined under section 1 of
3535 5chapter 31 of the General Laws. As used in this section, the word “employee” shall have the
3636 6same meaning as “employee” in section 1 of chapter 32 of the General Laws and shall also
3737 7include consultants and independent contractors who are natural persons paid by the Authority.
