29 | 29 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

30 | 30 | | of the same, as follows: |

31 | 31 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 6B of Chapter 115 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 |
---|
32 | 32 | | 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 30, the following:- |
---|
33 | 33 | | 3 Any applications submitted by an eligible veteran shall be valid until the death of the |
---|
34 | 34 | | 4veteran. |

35 | 35 | | 5 SECTION 2. Section 6B of Chapter 115 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 |

36 | 36 | | 6Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “spouse”, in line 47, the |
---|
37 | 37 | | 7following:- |

38 | 38 | | 8 The parents and eligible surviving spouses of veterans shall reapply for said annuity once |

39 | 39 | | 9a calendar year, provided further that during the first year they apply they shall be eligible to 2 of 2 |

40 | 40 | | 10receive the annuity compensation that they would have been eligible for the year after the death |
---|
41 | 41 | | 11of the veteran. |

42 | 42 | | 12 SECTION 3. Notwithstanding any special or general law to the contrary, any eligible |

43 | 43 | | 13veterans, parents, or surviving spouses who did not receive an annuity due to failure to apply for |
---|
44 | 44 | | 14said benefits shall retroactively be eligible to apply for 90 days following enactment of this act. |
