An Act relative to school transportation reimbursement.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Chapter 71 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after 
2section 7C the following section:-
3 Section 7D. (a) To provide for a 100 per cent reimbursement of the cost of transportation 
4not reimbursable under section 7A, the state treasurer shall annually, on or before November 20, 
5pay to a qualifying municipality the sums required for full reimbursement of transportation costs 
6incurred directly from the transportation between school and home of any pupil.
7 (b) A qualifying municipality eligible for funding under this section shall include any 
8municipality that: (i) is not a gateway municipality as defined in section 3A of chapter 23A; (ii) 
9receives no transportation reimbursement from the commonwealth because it is not a member of 
10a regional school district; and (iii) has a population with 10 per cent or more living at or below 
11the federal poverty line, as determined by the most recent United States Census Bureau statistics.
12 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on July 30, 2025.
