2626 An Act to facilitate the purchase of certain event tickets.
2727 Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to
2828 forthwith remove regulatory burdens on businesses, including nonprofits, that exhibit and sell
2929 tickets to their own licensed theatrical and other public exhibitions and shows, therefore it is
3030 hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
3131 convenience.
3232 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3333 of the same, as follows:
3434 1 Section 185A of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as appearing in section 249 of chapter
3535 2238 of the acts of 2024, is hereby amended by striking out subsection (a) and inserting in place
3636 3thereof the following subsection:
3737 4 (a) No person shall engage in the business of reselling tickets to any theatrical exhibition,
3838 5public show or public amusement or exhibition required to be licensed under sections 181 and
3939 6182 or under chapter 128A, or facilitating a mechanism for 2 or more parties to participate in the
4040 7resale of any ticket of admission thereto, whether such business is conducted on or off the
4141 8premises on which such ticket or other evidence is to be used, without being licensed by the
4242 9commissioner of occupational licensure.
