2727 An Act developing a Portrait of a Graduate.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, in partnership with school
3131 2districts, experts in social and emotional learning in school settings, the Massachusetts
3232 3Association of School Psychologists, Wayfinder Inc., workforce development agencies and
3333 4others, shall develop a statewide "Portrait of a Graduate" which identifies seven competencies
3434 5that schools will support students to develop upon graduation from high school to help them
3535 6thrive in the 21st century and develop a state-wide resource for schools across the
3636 7Commonwealth. The 7 competencies may include character traits like (1) Self-Awareness, (2)
3737 8Adaptability, (3) Empathy, (4) Collaboration, (5) Agency, (6) Purpose, and (7) Responsible
3838 9Decision-making.
