2626 An Act relative to fees for student organizations.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. Section 47 of Chapter 71 of the General Laws is hereby amended by
3030 2adding the following sentence:-
3131 3 No participant shall be required to pay a fee to participate in any school organization or
3232 4student activity whose primary purpose is: (i) political; (ii) faith-based; (iii) charitable; (iv)
3333 5promoting positive mental or physical health, or raising awareness of the importance thereof; (v)
3434 6student leadership activities included but not limited to student council or being a class officer;
3535 7(vi) opposing, preventing, addressing, or raising awareness of discrimination or racism, sexism,
3636 8and other forms of bigotry; (vii) opposing, preventing, addressing, or raising awareness of
3737 9bullying; or (viii) any other purpose deemed by the committee to be a social good.
