2626 An Act relative to acute hospital and nursing home governance.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. Section 51 of chapter 111, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is
3030 2hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following new paragraph:-
3131 3 All acute-care hospitals as defined in section twenty-five B, shall have a registered nurse
3232 4holding a current unencumbered license from the board of registration in nursing as a sitting and
3333 5voting member of the governing entity responsible for developing the organization’s strategic
3434 6plan, structure, systems, policies and programs.
3535 7 SECTION 2. Section 71 of said chapter 111, is hereby amended by adding at the end
3636 8thereof the following new paragraph:-
3737 9 All nursing homes shall have a registered nurse holding a current unencumbered license
3838 10from the board of registration in nursing as a sitting and voting member of the governing entity
3939 11responsible for developing the organization’s strategic plan, structure, systems, policies and
4040 12programs.
