2727 An Act relative to the recovery of emergency assistance funds used on non residents with a
2828 financial sponsor.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 Section 30 of Chapter 23B of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official
3232 2Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after subsection (G) the following subsection:-
3333 3 (H) The executive office of housing and livable communities shall implement a policy to
3434 4identify any families or individuals in the emergency housing assistance program, including
3535 5those residing in overflow shelters, that have a financial sponsor under federal immigration law.
3636 6 For any families or individuals identified as has having a financial sponsor, the executive
3737 7office shall, in consultation with the office of the attorney general, seek reimbursement of any
3838 8funds that should have been covered by the financial sponsor through legal action against the
3939 9financial sponsor.
