27	27	An Act providing for equity within the judicial branch.
28	28	Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
29	29	of the same, as follows:
30	30	1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding sections 93 and 94 of chapter 221; section 6 of
31	31	2chapter211A; sections 53, 58, and 79 of chapter 218; section 35A of chapter 217; section 14 of
32	32	3chapter 185 and section 9A of chapter 185C, section 28D1/2 of chapter 278 or any other general
33	33	4or special law or by-law to the contrary, the salaries of the Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court
34	34	5for the Commonwealth, the Clerk of the of the Supreme Judicial Court for Suffolk County, the
35	35	6Clerk of the Appeals Court, the Clerks in the Superior Court, the Clerks of the Boston Municipal
36	36	7Court; the Clerks in the Juvenile Department; the Clerks in the District Court Department; the
37	37	8Registers of the Probate and Family Court Department; the Recorder of the Land Court
38	38	9Department; and the Clerks of the Housing Court Department shall be 84.57 percent of the salary
39	39	10of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court. 2 of 4
40	40	11 SECTION 2. Section 14 of chapter 185 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022
41	41	12Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 2, “81.57 per cent of the chief justice
42	42	13of said department” and inserting in place thereof the following: 84.57 per cent of the Chief
43	43	14Justice of the supreme judicial court..
44	44	15 SECTION 3. Section 9A of chapter 185C of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby
45	45	16amended by striking out, in line 3, “81.57 per cent of the chief justice of said department” and
46	46	17inserting in place thereof the following: 84.57 per cent of the chief justice of the supreme
47	47	18Judicial Court.
48	48	19 SECTION 4. Section 22 of chapter 211 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby
49	49	20amended by striking out, in line 1, the figure “$232,101” and inserting in place thereof the
50	50	21following figure:- $252,101.
51	51	22 SECTION 5. Said section 22 of said chapter 211 is hereby further amended by striking
52	52	23out, in line 2, the figure “$226,187” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:-
53	53	24$246,187.
54	54	25 SECTION 6. Section 2 of chapter 211A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby
55	55	26amended by striking out, in line 1, the figure “$219,856” and inserting in place thereof the
56	56	27following figure:- $239,856.
57	57	28 SECTION 7. Said section 2 of said chapter 211A is hereby further amended by striking
58	58	29out, in line 2, the figure “$213,924” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:-

60	60	31 SECTION 8. Section 6 of said chapter 211A is hereby amended by striking out, in line
61	61	3210, the following: “81.57 per cent of the salary of the chief justice of said court” and inserting in
62	62	33place thereof the following:- 84.57 per cent of the salary of the chief justice of the supreme
63	63	34judicial court.
64	64	35 SECTION 9. Section 4 of chapter 211B of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby
65	65	36amended by striking out, in line 3, the figure “$207,855” and inserting in place thereof the
66	66	37following figure:- $227,855.
67	67	38 SECTION 10. Said section 4 of said chapter 211B is hereby further amended by striking
68	68	39out, in line 5, the figure “$213,966” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:-
69	69	40$233,966.
70	70	41 SECTION 11. Said section 4 of said chapter 211B is hereby further amended by striking
71	71	42out, in line 7, the figure “$220,160” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:-
72	72	43$240,160.
73	73	44 SECTION 12. Section 35A of chapter 217 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is
74	74	45hereby amended by striking out, in line 2, the following: “81.57 per cent of the salary of the chief
75	75	46justice of the department” and inserting in place thereof the following:- 84.57 per cent of the
76	76	47salary of the chief justice of the supreme judicial court.
77	77	48 SECTION 13. Section 53 of chapter 218 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby
78	78	49amended by striking out, in line 9, the following “81.57 of the salary of the chief justice of the
79	79	50department” and inserting in place thereof the following: 84.57 per cent of the salary of the chief
80	80	51justice of the supreme judicial court. 4 of 4
81	81	52 SECTION 14. Section 58 of said chapter 218 is hereby amended by striking out, in line
82	82	5394, the following “81.57 per cent of the salary of the chief justice of said department” and
83	83	54inserting in place thereof the following: 84.57 per cent of the salary of the chief justice of the
84	84	55supreme judicial court.
85	85	56 SECTION 15. Section 79 of said chapter 218 is hereby amended by striking out, in line 2,
86	86	57the following: “81.57 per cent of the salary of the chief justice of said department” and inserting
87	87	58in place thereof the following: 84.57 per cent of the salary of the chief justice of the supreme
88	88	59judicial court.
89	89	60 SECTION 16. Section 93 of said chapter 221 is hereby amended by striking out, in line 2,
90	90	61the figure “81.57” and inserting in place thereof the following: 84.57.
91	91	62 SECTION 17. Section 94 of said chapter 221 is hereby amended by striking out, in line
92	92	6311, the figure “81.57” and inserting in place thereof the following: 84.57.
93	93	64 SECTION 18. Said section 94 of said chapter 221 is hereby further amended by striking
94	94	65out, in line 20, the following “81.57 per cent of the salary of the chief justice of said department”
95	95	66and inserting in place thereof the following: 84.57 per cent of the salary of the chief justice of the
96	96	67supreme judicial court.
97	97	68 SECTION 19. This act shall be effective on of July 1, 2025.
