An Act to address leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death aka Katie Brienzo's Law.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. This bill may be known as an Act to update the definition leaving the scene 
2of an accident a/k/a Katie’s Law. 
3 SECTION 2. Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 
4edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 968 through 970, the following words:- “or 
5by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not less than one year nor more than two and 
6one-half years and by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars nor more than five thousand 
7dollars”.  2 of 2
8 SECTION 3. Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby 
9amended by striking, in line 972, the words “one year” and inserting in place thereof the words 
10“two and one-half years”. 
11 SECTION 4. Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby 
12amended by striking, in lines 975, the words “one year” and inserting in place thereof the words 
13“two and one-half years”.
