2727 An Act prohibiting municipal bans of face coverings for protective or medical use.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 40 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after
3131 2section 69 the following section:-
3232 3 Section 70. No city or town shall enact an ordinance or by-law, or establish any policy,
3333 4that prohibits the wearing of face coverings for protective or medical use in any indoor or
3434 5outdoor space open to the public including, but not limited to:
3535 6 Any publicly-owned facility;
3636 7 Grocery stores, pharmacies, and other retail stores;
3737 8 Public streets, parks, and ways; and
3838 9 Any location, including hotels, event venues, and private clubs, that hosts indoor or
3939 10outdoor events or performances. 2 of 2
4040 11 SECTION 2. Chapter 111 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after
4141 12section 31E the following section:-
4242 13 Section 31F. No board of health shall adopt a regulation that prohibits the wearing of face
4343 14coverings for protective or medical use in any indoor or outdoor space open to the public
4444 15including, but not limited to:
4545 16 Any publicly-owned facility;
4646 17 Grocery stores, pharmacies, and other retail stores;
4747 18 Public streets, parks, and ways; and
4848 19 Any location, including hotels, event venues, and private clubs, that hosts indoor or
4949 20outdoor events or performances.
