2626 An Act relative to firefighter residency.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 Section 99A of chapter 41 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition,
3030 2is hereby amended by striking the section in its entirety and inserting in place thereof the
3131 3following section:-
3232 4 Section 99A. Any member of the regular police or fire department and fire alarm division
3333 5of a city or town appointed subsequent to August first, nineteen hundred and seventy eight who
3434 6is not subject to chapter 31 shall reside within fifteen miles of the limits of said city or town. Said
3535 7distance shall be measured from the closest border limits of said city or town in which said
3636 8member is employed to the closest border limits of the city or town in which said member lives;
3737 9provided, however, a city or town may increase the fifteen mile residency limit under a collective
3838 10bargaining agreement negotiated in accordance with chapter 150E.
