2525 An Act relative to the determination of need of new technology.
2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2727 of the same, as follows:
2828 1 Section 25B of chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official
2929 2Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the definition of “New technology”, and inserting in
3030 3place thereof the following definition:-
3131 4 ''New technology'', equipment such as magnetic resonance imagers and linear
3232 5accelerators, as may be defined by the department, or a service, as may be defined by the
3333 6department, which for reasons of quality, access or cost is determined to be new technology by
3434 7the department; provided, however, that computerized tomography and any equipment that is
3535 8widely utilized as standard diagnostic, treatment or therapeutic technology shall not be
3636 9considered new technology.
