[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE SENATE, NO. 1725 OF 2023-2024.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act relative to veterans creditable service. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Subsection (1)(h) of section 4 of chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 22022 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:- 3 Notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter or any other general or special law, rule or 4regulation to the contrary, a member in service of a retirement system as defined in section one 5who is a veteran shall be credited with all periods of service for which the veteran was 6previously employed in any governmental unit. Such service shall be creditable service for any 7period or periods of prior work in a governmental unit and shall be given full credit for 8retirement purposes. Such creditable service shall not be limited if the retirement system in 9which the veteran is currently a member in service differs from the governmental unit in which 2 of 2 10he or she previously became a member. Such creditable service shall not be limited by years of 11membership service.
