2929 An Act to promote safety, efficiency and accountability in transportation projects through public
3030 inspections.
3131 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3232 of the same, as follows:
3333 1 Chapter 6C of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby
3434 2amended by inserting after section 79 the following section:-
3535 3 Section 80. Public Inspections
3636 4 (a) For purposes of this section, the following words shall have the following definitions:
3737 5 “inspection functions” shall mean construction inspections, bridge inspections, contract
3838 6administration, quality control inspection, material testing, and resident engineer functions;
3939 7 “public employee” shall mean an employee of a federal, state or local government. 2 of 2
4040 8 (b) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, public employees shall
4141 9carry out the inspection functions for all surface transportation projects receiving State or Federal
4242 10funding.
