2828 An Act relative to the board of elementary and secondary education.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 Section 1E of chapter 15 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition,
3232 2is hereby amended, by striking out the second and third sentences of the first paragraph and
3333 3inserting in place thereof the following:-
3434 4 The 9 members appointed by the governor shall consist of 1 representative of a labor
3535 5organization selected by the governor from a list of 3 nominees provided by the Massachusetts
3636 6State Labor Council, AFL-CIO; 1 representative of business and industry selected by the
3737 7governor with a demonstrated commitment to education; 1 representative of parents of school
3838 8children selected by the governor from a list of 3 nominees provided by the Massachusetts
3939 9Parent Teachers Association; 2 representatives of teachers, 1 selected by the governor from a list
4040 10of 3 nominees offered by the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and 1 selected by the 2 of 2
4141 11governor from a list of 3 nominees offered by the American Federation of
4242 12Teachers/Massachusetts; 1 school committee member selected by the governor from a list of 3
4343 13nominees provided by the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, and 4 additional
4444 14members.
