Civil Actions – Damages – Use of Race, Ethnicity, and Gender Data 2
FOR the purpose of prohibiting a calculation of damages for loss of earnings resulting from 3
personal injury or wrongful death from being reduced based on race, ethnicity, or 4
gender; and generally relating to civil actions and damages for loss of earnings. 5

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 11

apply only prospectively and may not be applied or interpreted to have any effect on or 19
application to any cause of action arising before the effective date of this Act. 20
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 21
October 1, 2022. 22
