42+ SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 16

66- SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III, § 35
67-of the Maryland Constitution, this Act may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary
68-or compensation of the State’s Attorney for Caroline County and the Sheriff of Caroline
69-County while serving in a term of office beginning before the effective date of this Act, but
70-the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or compensation of the State’s Attorney for
71-Caroline County and the Sheriff of Caroline County shall take effect at the beginning of the
72-next following term of office. This limitation does not apply to an individual appointed or
73-elected after the effective date of this Act to fill out an unexpired term.
73+ (b) (1) The State’s Attorney’s salary is [80%] 85% of the salary of a judge of 14

75- SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
76-October 1, 2022.
