BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 11 That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 12 Article – Transportation 13 13–903. 14 (a) The following vehicles are exempt from the registration fees specified in this 15 subtitle: 16 (8) A vehicle owned by, or leased to, and personally used by a veteran who: 17 (i) As designated or classified by the [Veterans’ Administration, 18 has] U.S. DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS: 19 2 HOUSE BILL 716 1. HAS lost the use of a hand, arm, or leg, or is totally 1 disabled; or 2 2. IS UNEMPLOYABLE DUE TO A SERVICE –CONNECTED 3 DISABILITY; OR 4 (ii) Has a permanent impairment of both eyes so that: 5 1. The central visual acuity is 20/200 or less in the better eye, 6 with corrective glasses; or 7 2. There is a field defect in which the peripheral field has 8 contracted to such an extent that the widest diameter of visual field subtends an angular 9 distance no greater than 20 degrees in the better eye; 10 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 11 October 1, 2024. 12
