BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 13 That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 14 Article – Education 15 7–213. 16 (A) (1) IN THIS SECTION THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS 17 INDICATED. 18 (2) “ELIGIBLE FINANCIAL LI TERACY COURSE ” MEANS A COURSE 19 THAT PROVIDES INSTRU CTIONAL CONTENT ON F INANCIAL LITERACY CO NCEPTS 20 THAT IS: 21 (I) OFFERED AT AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHE R EDUCATION; 22 2 SENATE BILL 638 (II) OFFERED BY AN ORGANIZ ATION APPROVED BY THE COUNTY 1 BOARD; AND 2 (III) APPROVED BY THE COUNT Y BOARD. 3 (3) “INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION” HAS THE MEANING 4 STATED IN § 10–101 OF THIS ARTICLE. 5 (B) BEGINNING IN THE 2025–2026 SCHOOL YEAR , EACH COUNTY BOARD 6 SHALL ALLOW SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A N ELIGIBLE FINANCIAL LITERACY 7 COURSE TO BE APPLIED TOWARD FULFILLMENT OF THE STUDENT SERVICE HOUR S 8 HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREME NT FOR THE NUMBER OF HO URS 9 DETERMINED BY THE CO UNTY BOARD. 10 (C) THE STATE BOARD SHALL ADOPT REGULATIONS TO CARRY OUT THIS 11 SECTION. 12 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 13 1, 2024. 14
