BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 16 That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 17 Article – Insurance 18 19–602. 19 2 HOUSE BILL 100 (a) In this section, “public entity” means: 1 (1) a political subdivision of the State; 2 (2) a unit of the State or a local government; [or] 3 (3) a nonprofit or nonstock corporation that: 4 (i) receives 50% or more of its annual operating budget from the 5 State or a local government; and 6 (ii) is exempt from taxation under § 501(c)(3) or (4) of the Internal 7 Revenue Code; OR 8 (4) A RESILIENCE AUTHORITY AS DEFINED IN § 22–101 OF THE 9 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ARTICLE. 10 (b) Public entities may pool together to purchase casualty insurance, property 11 insurance, or health insurance or to self–insure against casualty, property, or health risks. 12 Article – Local Government 13 22–101. 14 (a) In this title the following words have the meanings indicated. 15 (g) “Resilience Authority” means an authority incorporated by one or more local 16 governments in accordance with this title whose purpose is to undertake or support 17 resilience infrastructure projects. 18 SECTION 2.
