AN ACT concerning 1
Departments of Public Works – Water Main Breaks – Publication Requirement 2
FOR the purpose of requiring the Department of Public Works for each county in which a 3
water main breaks or leaks to publish certain information on the department’s 4
website; requiring each department to update certain information within a certain 5
time frame; and generally relating to water main breaks and leaks. 6

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 12
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 13

(A) THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR EACH COUNTY IN WHICH A 16
WATER MAIN B REAK OR LEAK OCCURS SHALL PUBLISH ON THE DEPARTMENT ’S 17
WEBSITE THE FOLLOWIN G INFORMATION : 18
(1) THE DATE THE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED OF THE BREAK OR 19
LEAK; 20
(2) THE DATE OF COMPLIANCE W ITH ANY LEGAL AND RE GULATORY 21
REQUIREMENTS BY THE RELEVANT WATER UTILITY; 22

(4) THE ESTIMATED WATER LOSS. 2
(B) EACH DEPARTMENT SHALL UPDATE ANY INF ORMATION PUBLISHED O N 3

ACTION TAKEN IN RELA TION TO A WATER MAIN BREA K OR LEAK. 5
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 6
October 1, 2025. 7
